I'd say Sydney has been better (or luckier) at advancing her career since blowing up on Euphoria Season 1, be it in terms of the projects she's been involved with (box office hits and critically acclaimed smaller movies), playing the fame game (e.g. the Glen Powell speculation during Anyone But You), and supplying more onscreen nudity in various degrees (The Voyeurs, Euphoria Season 2, The Handmaid).I remember all the hype on recapped lol. users bombarded the comment section with questions about sex and nude scenes in that movie literally every week.
Then it entered post production hell, leading to what was probably the most disappointing review ever posted on that site.
That fumble also added to the demise of recapped iirc.
About her career: I think people underestimate how overblown are things with social media becoming so omnipresent in people's lives.
Alex and Sydney have almost the same identical career path. Both showed her tits (God bless them for that) near the start of their careers, gaining both immense popularity from it. Both starred in mediocre movies (Alex was in 2 movies with The Rock when he was at the apex of his popularity btw). Both have modelling gigs with fashion brands (Alex is the face of Tag Hauer, that's why she often appears at F1 GPs). The only stark difference between the two of them is social media presence, Sydney was a the centre of a dumb internet war for that jeans ad, and people were riled up about her. Then she hit jackpot with that seethrough dress some months ago and she exploded, once again, on social media. Remember tho, that most of her 2025 movies underperformed, apart from the handmaiden one. She is also 11 years younger than Alex.
We have to accept that Alex is nearing the end of her career, and that's a shame, because she is gorgeous, but this is how things go for actressess that base their acting presence mostly on looks. This will happen to Sydney too in a few years, when the next hot actress will dethrone her. We will have then threads about how Sydney could have done more, etc, etc...
Sorry for the incoherent rambling![]()
Alex didn't really do any of that post-True Detective. Still steadily working, occasionally showing a lot of skin, but nothing that took her to the next level as a star. Didn't reveal much about her private life until she settled down. The most notable thing she's done since True Detective was The White Lotus, ironically with Sydney and they both got Emmy nominations for it.
Obviously none of us know either of them personally. But regardless of how Alex's career has turned out, I hope she's happy and gets to continues doing what she loves. And if that leads to more of what we love about her, even better.
